| Ekubo Coastal Estate |
 |
The Ekubo Coastal Estate is a coastal residential property development that incorporates 137 hectares of indigenous
coastal forest located on the south side of Leisure Bay on the South Coast of Kwazulu Natal. It has approximately
1 kilometre of unspoilt Indian Ocean shoreline and is situated in the heart of a golfer’s paradise, just
minutes from the Wild Coast Sun Golf Course and San Lameer Golf Course. The Ekubo Coastal Estate is approximately 30 minutes from Margate Airport and 1 hour and 20 minutes from Durban International Airport. Whale
watching, dolphin viewing and the annual sardine run are famous pastimes
for nature lovers, not to mention the pristine beaches at Leisure
Bay and Port Edward, which are within walking distance from your front door.

The first 'holiday cottage' was a shack built among the sand dunes
in the early days by transport rider Edward Stafford. Unaware of
their motility, however, he was surprised and dismayed to see his
fine creation swallowed up by the sands.

This area was subjected to several name changes as property was
bought and sold, but the practice came to an end in 1952 when the
town of Port Edward was ceremoniously dedicated to the then Prince
of Wales.
The Umtamvuna River had so often flooded and destroyed the crops
of the Zulu that they named it 'Reaper of Full Mouths'. They believed
its waters despised the impure of heart as much as the ocean detested
sinners... and anyone trying to ford the river without first confessing
their sins would surely drown. Moreover, its deep pools were haunted
by sprites and evil spirits, while its banks - and the seashore
- witnessed the moonlit dancing of supernatural creatures who left
terrifying tracks for humans to discover as the sun rose above
the Indian Ocean horizon.

This is a stunning casino with one of the world's top golf courses. Formerly part of the Transkei, which is a breathtakingly beautiful
region, with many
remote,
rural locations offering unspoilt velvet-green hills and unspoiled
beaches.
Locals are friendly and hospitable and these are ideal
holiday resorts for those wanting nothing more than a beach, a
few good surfing waves and perhaps the odd fishing trip. |
| The San Lameer
Golf Course |
 |
The
San Lameer Golf Course is situated on the Durban South Coast and
is rated as one of the top 10 South African golf courses. Although only
6100m long, this golf course is a rare challenge as it is built on one
of the last wetlands in South Africa and there are water hazards
on just about every hole! Our advice is to bring more than enough
balls.
The San Lameer estate course is extremely conscious of protecting the
environment and was designed to avoid areas of sensitive vegetation
and utilise natural features. This course is a nature lover’s
dream surrounded by over 195 species of bird, troops of Impala, reedbuck
and bushbuck.
The fairways are narrow where many different challenges present themselves;
right-to-left doglegs, large bunkers, thick rough and water hazards!
The country club greens are fast yet smooth. To enjoy this course
you will have to play conservative golf, straight down the middle,
and stay out of trouble.
The par-three 4th could be compared with the famous 12th at Augusta,
across water to a narrow green.
